Description

A pair of the best cotes roties from one of the great producers of the region (the best for my palate - I can do without so much oak and concentration from some).

2001 was an excellent year, cool but even growing season allowing the delicate perfumes of these wines shine.

Both great sites, excellent terroir, 70 year old vines, tiny, tiny production circa 500 cases each year.

La Landonne is more concentrated, powerful wine. Meaty, with a little heft. in its maturity now, edges softened but the character is consistent. Soil inflexions, dark fruited, with cured meats

Cote Blonde is the more feminine, aromatically complex - it is a riot of spice box perfume. more delicate, bright and energetic. Whereas the landonne is darker, plummier fruit, this is sexier, blackberries, backcurrents - it's alive. There is a fantastic intensity of flavour without any heaviness in the mouth - it floats.

together they make a fascinating pair for a celebration dinner or for a tasting group to pour over ;)
