Volnay

Ripe, almost plumy black pinot fruit aromas blend seamlessly into fresh, textured, complex and beautifully precise middle weight flavors that deliver simply superb length. This is an exquisitely balanced wine with ample minerality and it finishes with lovely natural sweetness.

Tasted: Jan 01, 2006 Score: 91 Drink: 2009+

Gevrey-Chambertin

Very pretty and gorgeously elegant dark pinot fruit and pungent earth notes lead to dense, complex and long with sophisticated tannins and fine overall balance. This is really very impressive for villages Gevrey and highly recommended. In short, don't miss it!

Pernand-Vergelesses

By contrast, this is very reserved, indeed downright backward on the nose, undoubtedly because of the recent bottling with frank, direct and punchy flavors that offer a punchy, very precise and persistent backend. Despite the present reticence, I suspect this will come around relatively quickly.
