Description

"The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape continues to drink fabulously, with its complex kirsch, leather, dried underbrush and spiced meat-driven profile.Rich, seamless and nicely concentrated, with some still-kicking tannin on the palate,it should be consumed over the coming 3-4 years.
Since taking control of the estate in 2002,and bringing on board rock star consultant Philippe Cambie,The Maurel brothers have been knocking it out of the park in literally every vintage".
(91 Points).

Jeb Dunnuck. (eRobertParker.com August 2014).

"The 2003 Clos St.Jean Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits loads of garrigue, seaweed, licorice, salty sea breezes, pepper, earth, and plenty of sweet black cherry/kirsch notes in a full-bodied,opulent,fleshy,and seductive style. It is hard to resist, and I am sure the alcohol is pretty lofty given the vintage conditions. This wine should drink well for at least a decade".
(90 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #163. February 2006).

"Big and brawny, with lots of brambly tannins framing the blackberry and black currant fruit..Notes of fig, licorice, and tar take over on the muscular finish.Long, driving finish drips with dark fruit.Drink now through 2020".
(90 Points).

James Molesworth. (The Wine Spectator. November 2006).
