The lot consists of two bottles from the up-and-coming Burgundy Domaine Tollot-Beaut,from the 2003 vintage:

One bottle of 2003 Domaine Tollot-Beaut Clos-du-Roi Premier Cru.
One bottle of 2003 Domaine Tollot-Beaut Savigny-Champ-Chevrey Monopole Premier Cru.

In his vintage guide Robert Parker states that 2003 in the Cote de Beaune was an above average to excellent vintage.


Two tasting notes taken from CellarTracker on the 2003 Tollot Beaut Beaune Clos du Roi:-

"Candied,sweet nose of ripe red cherry,raspberry,and cassis fruit mixed with some smoky aromas of toasty oak.Richly fruited and lush on the palate with notable length and density;clear midpalate fat that carries over to a relieving semi-tart red fruit finish.Just beginning to reveal some shadings of sous-bois throughout but the fruit is very much intact and remains ample.Almost creamy and viscous in texture with explosive fruit".

"Although quite primary now,this power house Beaune has amazing harmony and length.Intense aromas of sweet candied fruits with leather,framboise liqueur-like concentration that eventually turns into cassis.Heady aromas lead to fat and expressive,lush flavors with a good beam of minerality.Big style here".

I cannot find a tasting note for the 2003 Tollot-Beaut Savigny-Champ-Chevrey Monopole.
However Allen Meadows awarded this wine with 88 Points (Burghound. #18. 2005).
Referring to the Tollot-Beaut Savigny-Champ-Chevrey he states:-

"When people ask me where in Burgundy do you consistently find good value reds,I say to them these three words SAVIGNY - LES - BEAUNES".
