Description

In recent years Chateau Angelus has been one of the few clarets in which buyers continue to show interest. It seems to have gained considerably in popularity and price and their wine has become one of the most sought after in Bordeaux.
This could possibly be,because Angelus now appears to be the favourite wine of James Bond! Chateau Angelus was seen and drunk by Bond in both the films "Casino Royale" and more recently in "Spectre":-

"The Live-ex Bordeaux 2014 price guide reveals that only four chateaux - Angelus,Calon-Segur,Le Petit Mouton, and Le Pin - have shown meaningful returns since the 2009 vintage".

Adam Lechmere. (WineSearcher. 30/3/2015).

"This 7,500-case blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc is one of the strongest wines of the vintage. A deep blue/purple hue is accompanied by classic aromas of smoky blueberries and blackberries as well as incense and floral notes in the background. A beautiful texture, opulence, flamboyance, and purity characterize this stunningly deep, full-bodied effort, another great success from proprietor Hubert de Bouard. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2022".
(95 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. June 2007).

"Wonderful ripe fruit with plum, berry and hints of sweet tobacco. Full-bodied with a wonderful velvety texture. This has 40 percent Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot. This is the same quality level as 2000 but less exotic in style. Almost 95-100 Points".
(92-94 Points).

James Suckling. (The Wine Spectator. April 2005).

Two more recent tasting notes on the 2004 Angelus from Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider):

"Perhaps the best deal for Chateau Angelus in the marketplace today. Plush, polished, sensuous and richly textured, the fruit is ripe, sweet and shows both its black and red sides. Full bodied, with depth and concentration, this is already showing well, and is only going to get better from here".
(95 Points).

Jeff Leve. (The Wine Cellar Insider. May 2017).

"One of the wines of the vintage, the wine is soft, round and silky, with ample concentration. The nose displays truffle, blackberry, plum, licorice, chocolate and earth. The wine was made from a blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc".
(95 Points).

Jeff Leve. (The Wine Cellar Insider. November 2014).
