CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY

John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2004 Barthod Chambolle AC is a lovely village wine, offering up a classic Chambolle expression of red cherries, raspberries, violets, cocoa powder, chalky soil tones and fresh herbs. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and focused, with good depth at the core, modest tannins, bright acids, and good length and grip on the finish. The wine closes with a note of white pepper that seems to be quite prevalent in the wines of Chambolle and Morey in this vintage. All in all a very high-class and racy middleweight that should gracefully improve in bottle for a couple of decades. 2010-2025." Score 89

GEVREY CHAMBERTAIN

Burghound Tasting note: A gentle hint of wood frames notably ripe red and dark berry fruit aromas and rich, sweet, delicious and wonderfully complex medium full flavors underpinned by beautifully refined tannins and culminating in striking length. This is easily of 1er quality and is also recommended.

NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES

Burghound tasting note: Slightly riper dark berry aromas and earth that give way to delicious red fruit flavors that are supple, round and sweet and nicely concentrated, all wrapped in a finish that offers an attractively mineral note. In sum, this is a delicious yet serious effort that should reward short to mid-term cellaring.
