Description

Chateau D'Issan,
This 17th century Chateau is one of the most beautiful estates in the Medoc. D'Issan can be consumed at an early age or layed down for up to 15 years. Most notable recent vintages are the 2009 and 2010. The density of plantation is 8,500 vines per hectare with plantings of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Two wines are produced: Chateau d'Issan and Blason d'Issan.

2005 – Bordeaux,
A highly successful vintage in every corner of the region, and for every
winestyle. Red wines are sumptuously fruity, structured and reveal impressive freshness and harmony. Both Left and Right Banks have excelled, with wonderful wines from Pomerol, St-Emilion, Graves and the Médoc. And not only have the leading 50 or so châteaux produced memorable wines, but success is also apparent in wines from less glamourous properties - this will come as wonderful news to those who seek out quality to drink at prices well below those of the most exalted estates. Dry conditions during July and August contributed to highly concentrated berries offering unparalleled fruit intensity and rich, elegant tannins. Hopes for a long-living vintage appear to be well justified.

“Along with the 2000, the 2005 is one of the two greatest d'Issans I have ever tasted. Kudos to proprietor Emmanuel Cruse for creating this beauty. Its dense purple hue is accompanied by aromas of camphor, forest floor, blackberries, cassis, and a hint of spring flowers. Full-bodied with superb richness, purity, texture, and abundant, sweet tannin, it should hit its stride in 3-4 years, and last for 25+. Bravo!” (95 Points, Robert Parker-Wine Advocate (176), April 2008)
