Description

Bernard Magrez now owns at least 25 wine domaines around the world (including Chateau Pape-Clement and also estates in the Napa Valley and Argentina).Since 2000 he's been focusing on vineyards with unheralded terroirs, determined to make special,limited-production wines,he calls "micro-cuvees".He maintains that his experience gained at Pape-Clement has helped him to make a much improved quality wine at Les Grands Chenes.2005 was an outstanding vintage in Bordeaux.

"Under the guidance of proprietor Bernard Magrez,Les Grands Chenes has been fashioning impressively made Medocs over recent years. This 25-acre property is planted with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2005 possesses a dense, chocolate, smoky, cassis character, full body,a serious,well-endowed palate, good purity, ripe tannin, and a classic, long finish.A sleeper of the vintage,it will be ready to drink in 2-3 years and should keep for 12-15 years".
(88-90 Points).
