The three lots of four bottles are from a previously unopened wooden case which had been cellared since 2006 and until very recently at the Vinotheque - under ideal professional conditions.

Situated adjacent to and on similar soil and sub-soils as the better known Château Poujeaux, the very fine 2005 Branas-Grand-Poujeaux has acquired very high critical acclaim and is well worth investigating (and perhaps following) as a property offering first class quality at a reasonable price...

What a turn up for the books this is!
A clean rich plumy nose with cedar; macerated black cherries and black plum. Nice definition with scents of wild mint developing. Soft entry, very plush tannins that really coat the mouth, a sumptuous Burgundian mouthfeel, opulent oaky finish with a velvety texture. Very ripe. Well-crafted, very modern and quite New World-influenced on the slightly lactic finish. Drink 2010-2020. Tasted January 2009.

"Shows blackberry and Indian spices, with hints of red liquorice on the nose. Full-bodied, with beautifully polished tannins and a pretty ripe berry and mineral aftertaste. Best after 2011. 2,310 cases made."
