Description

About this Wine:

Spicy mulberry, blackberries, bitumen and cigar. Coco and herb edged fruit sits in the glass and opens with air. Opening with dark chocolate and cherry nuance, the peaty background comes of age and styles the graceful personality of this vineyard.

This wine forms part of Clarendon Hills’ ‘Premier Cru’ classification.

Rich and fleshy, this multi-layered and savoury-focused expression pays homage to the great wines of Pomerol. The dark chocolate/cocoa backbone hinges a perfume of lifted black berries and cherries; a la Cherry Ripe sans sugar.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Plush, intense and vivid in flavor, this is aromatic with herbal cherry and currant character, leading into ripe fruit that's balanced with creamy, spicy, chocolate-tinged oak notes. A wine of great presence and length. Powerful, but not even close to being over the top. Drink now through 2015. 500 cases imported." –HS (Oct 15, 2007)

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The Bordeaux varietals begin with the 2005 Merlot Brookman Vineyard. Sourced from a 65-year-old vineyard, it is opaque purple-colored with an expressive perfume of toasty oak, mulberry, blackberry, black raspberry, and chocolate. Layered, rich, and thick, it can be drunk now but will evolve for 5-7 years."
