Description

Mas de Daumas Gassac is a French wine producer from the wine region Languedoc, classified as Vin de Pays de l'Hérault due to its use of grape varieties outside specifications of its AOC. The winery, producing both white and red wine, is located in the south of France, in the commune of Aniane. Despite its modest designation and location, the vineyard has received widespread acknowledgement, described by The Times to taste like a “Latour” and by the French gastronomic guide GaultMillau as the "Lafite Rothschild of the Languedoc-Roussillon", it is frequently referred to as the Grand cru of the Languedoc.

The nose is lovely and interesting, like golden raisins. Rand gets a prune-like taste from it, and it is definitely like some kind of dried fruit. Intense bouche, but it lacks acidity to give it real interest and life and lift. This was probably lovely a few years back, but is still interesting for those who like an older white. I would drink it again, but can see why my trusted wine guide says this is best within the first 2-3 years of life. I'd drink it, even though the back label promises aging potential up to 15 years (which seems doubtful for this one -- it's so gold-toned already)

Lifted fresh bouquet of lime,honey,vanilla,nuts.Full bodied,textural,very fine fresh acidity gives great balance.Fantastic!
