Description

The lot consist of three bottles of St.Emilion Grand Cru from the exceptional Bordeaux 2005 vintage:-

One bottle of 2005 Chateau Laroze St.Emilion Grand Cru Classe.(90 Points WS)
One bottle of 2005 Chateau Fombrauge (Bernard Magrez) St.Emilion Grand Cru. (90-92 Points RP).
One bottle of 2005 Chateau Tertre du Moulin St.Emilion Grand Cru.

These wines should all be beginning to reach the peak of their drinking windows.
There has been a recent resurgence interest in the 2005s as claret lovers realise that this is by far the best vintage for current drinking:-

"This is surely Bordeaux's best vintage of the century so far.The 2005s were always chock full of everything - fruit, acidity, colour and tannins".

Jancis Robinson. MW. (Financial Times. 14/2/2015).

Robert Parker's wine tasting notes on the 2005 Chateau Fombrauge:-

"From the largest estate in St.Emilion, this blend of 77% Merlot,14% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an opaque purple color as well as serious black cherry and raspberry notes, interwoven with darker blackberry fruit.High in tannin,full-bodied,chewy,powerful,and dense,it requires 5-6 years of bottle age,and should keep for two decades. It is another example of a Bernard Magrez estate that is pushing the envelope of quality".
(90-92 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #170. April 2007).

James Suckling's tasting notes on the 2005 Chateau Laroze:-

"Extremely attractive aromas of blackberry, spice, and licorice follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a caressing finish.Pretty and racy.Best after 2013. 10,000 cases made".
(90 Points).

James Suckling. (The Wine Spectator. 2008).
