In September 2008 the world of fine wine suffered a tremendous loss when Didier Dagueneau tragically died flying his microlite aircraft. Didier was universally accepted as one of the very finest, most innately talented, trailblazing and innovative winemakers to have ever graced the flint soils of the Loire. His sad demise means the end of his scintillating, highly sought after wines, and the loss of one of wine's greatest characters.

Constant adaptation and experimentation were always key to Didier's philosophy. He saw no reason why Sauvignon Blanc produced from individual 'climats' in the Loire could not display just as much terroir definition as one might find in the Cote d'Or. New and old oak often featured in the winemaking. Malos were routinely prevented to retain precious acidity and harvesting was done on a bunch by bunch basis with picking carried out over a number of successive passes through the vines. 2006 was a year of low yields across the Loire particularly for Didier Dagueneau's vineyards, producing 40% less than the average.

This remarkable wine is the 2nd last to be offered that bear the hand of the great man. At only S$158 net a 75cl bottle, this is a good chance to own a significant piece of Loire winemaking history.
