Description

In June 2009 Robert Parker confirmed, with 93 points - "A brilliant blockbuster is the 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne Font d’Estevanas. Composed of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, all from a vineyard planted in 1961, this amazing wine possesses an inky/ruby/purple color in addition to a sweet perfume of black and blue fruits, kirsch, lavender, licorice, spice box, and earth. Transcending its appellation and price point, this is a superb wine that should drink beautifully for 10-15+ years" 93 points.........................and: on 3/5/2013 - CHAINTHROER wrote in Cellartracker, with 92 Points and with an average of 90.3 points over 24 other tasting comments:
"A medium garnet color; almost opaque. Similar to my last tasting, the aromas are: “black cherry, blackberry, leather, herbs (thyme), violets and some cigar box.” Rich and decently concentrated fruit in the mouth. Similar flavors, which are rich and somewhat powerful. Nice balance and structure. However, the tannins are not completely resolved and leave a slight acidic sting on the tongue. A fairly long finish, but I did not get the heat on the finish as I did last time. Also, when last tasted, I wasn’t sure about the longevity of this wine. But, I was wrong. I think it has some years left before it hits its apogee. Glad I have more bottles left for future appreciation."
I can personally vouch for the longevity of this wine from my cellars too as my last bottle was in April 2014 - just lovely and a pure fruit backing to a lush unfolding juiciness.
