2008 Agricola Punica "Barrua", Isola dei Nuraghi IGT - 1 bottle

This wine has aged beautifully in the last three years. Clear, dark ruby with a hint of garnet, concentrated. The nose is clean, intense, complex and developing, with aromas of black cherry, orange rind, tamarind, tobacco and an interestingly vegetal V-8 juice component. Oak spice is present but unobtrusive. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity and medium (+) tannins. The alcohol is medium (+) and does not taste as hot as the 15.0%. abv would indicate. It is smooth on the palate, with moderate minerality. The wine is full bodied, balanced, with intense flavors and a long and persistent finish. Contrary to my previous assessment, it has continued to age well and is likely to show well for several more years.
