Description

"Tasted ex-chateau and single blind at Southwold.The Larcis Ducasse is clean,pure and elegant on the nose with wild strawberry and blueberry aromas,well-integrated oak and floral pressed flower aromas developing with time.It is opulent,but not over-bearing.The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry,black olive and rounded black fruits that lead to a finely focused,almost tertiary finish.This is one of the finest wines from this Saint Emilion estate in recent years.Tasted January 2012".

"The 2008 Larcis Ducasse (14.2% natural alcohol) is composed of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc.Although closed at present and less prestigeous than I predicted two years ago,it reveals an opaque purple color,plenty of sweet fruitcake,black currant,kirsch,forest floor and earthy characteristics,a full-bodied mouthfeel,sweet tannins and a long finish.It just does not appear to have the extra gear or two I tasted from barrel.Nevertheless,it is an outstanding wine".

Perhaps the closed wine (in RP's tasting note above) needs another 24 hours of decanting,as revealed in the following tasting notes on CellarTracker:-

"Day 1 was a bit unyielding but still enjoyable with not much on the nose,but a super smooth palate.Day 2 this wine just exploded and put on tremendous weight.Very sweet dark fruit in the mouth along with hints of licorice,espresso,and a subtle green note on the nose.The wine has a bright future ahead".
