Description

"What's so striking and exciting about 2009 - and I haven't really seen this kind of excitement since 1982 - is the quality of the cru bourgeois and the petit vins and generic Bordeaux that are available.In short,2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982,of which it is a modern day version but greatly improved".

Chateau Gressier-Grand-Poujeaux is owned by Celine Villars of Chasse-Spleen fame.The vineyard is adjoining Chasse-Spleen and was bought by Villars in 2003 and the wine is made by the same team that produces the Chasse-Spleen wine.A typical Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon,Merlot,Cabernet Franc and some Petit Verdot,the wine is aged in French oak barriques for 12 months:-

"Dark and winey,with charcoal and tobacco notes framing the core of dark plum,steeped black currant and fig fruit flavours.The tight grained finish is tinged with iron accents".

"This wine is like Vince Carter dunking over Frederic Wells in the 2000 Olympics; it comes completely out of nowhere and even after experiencing it you're not sure how it happened.It's simply beautiful,perfectly lush fruit (a trademark of the fantastic 2009 vintage) with gentle tannic structure and hints of tobacco and earth on the finish".
