Description

From 20 to 60 year old vines bordering Vosne Romanee. Only 4.5 barrels produced. 49% new wood and 50% whole cluster fermented.

"There are four and a half barrels-worth of the new les Damodes bottling from Dujac Fils et Père, with two of the barrels new (one of which is 300 liters in size, rather than the standard 225 liter Burgundy piece), so the percentage of new wood hovers around forty-nine percent for this bottling. It was produced with fifty percent whole cluster in 2011 and offers up a superb nose of black cherries, cassis, espresso, venison, dark soil tones, a touch of new oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very primary in personality, with a fine core, ripe, fine grained tannins and excellent focus and grip on the long and well-balanced finish. This is a young wine that should prove outstanding with bottle age, but in proper Nuits fashion, it will need the better part of a decade to blossom fully. 2022-2050+. "
92/100 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

"A distinctly floral nose offers added breadth in the form of earth, red berries and a touch of stem influence. The mouth feel here is really rather refined with good detail to the balanced and punchy middle weight flavors where the persistent finish is supported and shaped by relatively fine grained tannins. This is also lovely but note that it will require up to a decade to be at its best. (Drink starting 2019)."
89-92/100 Allen Meadows, Burghound

"While the domaine often outperforms the quality of any given vintage, in 2011 they have seriously outperformed, indeed these are some of the best wines of the 2011 vintage."
Allen Meadows, Burghound

12/10/2014 - LORD RODNEY WROTE: 92 Points
Really lovely stuff! Bright, pure and and very complex. Could go even higher!

03/05/2014 - SUNDBYBERG WROTE: 94 Points
Light, balanced, nuanced, very pure and slightly complex. Very well kept together and very elegant. Very vosne-like.

25/03/2014 - TENUTA STEFAN LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Perfect bottle. Young of course, pure and clean. Dark ruby, transparent. Wonderful bouquet of roses, black tea, oak, spices, cedar, curry, lingonberries and strawberries. Blind I would go Vosne-Romanée and not Nuits-St-Georges.
Lovely taste, good grip, wonderful balance. Backbone of minerality and acidity that brings out the best of the fruit in this lovely 1er Cru.
Quite long finish too.
