Description

Very fine and very rare. Not available in the UK that I can find.

"Tasted at Handford’s 21st Anniversary tasting in Holland Park. Having returned a severely corked bottle (reviewed positively by a professional in front of me!) the replacement Madiran ’89 is an absolute knock-out. It has a sensual nose of dark berries, Earl Grey, black olives and a touch of melted tar all with wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. There are heady notes of blackberry and briary with a touch of Provencal herbs towards the long finish. Sublime! Tasted October 2010."

"This is a nearly perfect wine. Great nose, great balance between fruit, acidity and tannins (all great!) and (you name it) great finish. And it did not loose anything on the second day. I think it has still a lot of future and I'm happy to have one more bottle of this overwhelming nectar."
