Description

Two bottles of Rioja from good vintages.

1 bottle of Campillo Rioja 1996 - bottle number 375593 lovely mature Spanish red in tip top condition, stored since purchase in a professional temperature and humidity controlled wine room. '96 was a good vintage for rioja and is drinking well now.

1 bottle of Baron de Ona Reserva 1995 which was an excellent Rioja vintage and coincided with the bodega being taken over by La Rioja Alta in January of that year so this is the first Baron de Ona produced by La Rioja Alta. Tasting notes from Decanter.com "Coffee and smoky oak nose, with fruity richness. Richly flavours, with supple tannins." 4 out of 5 stars. If you believe Vivino.com (and I struggle with their pricing) then this attains 4.4 out of 5 with an average price of £133 a bottle……I don't speak Spanish but Juank rated it at 4.5 and said "Vino maduro muy bien balance. Aroma discreto con sabor a plum y madera. Seco al paladar. Muy bueno."

Both bottles have some nicks in the labels from storage on wine racks.
