Aalto, PS, Ribera del Duero DO - In Bond, 2010

Aalto, PS, Ribera del Duero DO - In Bond
Arrow

Description

IN BOND

Bodegas Aalto was established in 1999 by Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini with Mariano bringing 30 years of wine-making expertise at Vega Sicilia to the fore. Both Aalto and Aalto PS are made from very old Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines aged between 40 and 100 years. PS, or pagos seleccionados, hails from specific plots where strict selection produces a complex and cellar-worthy wine which is only released in the best vintages.

At 15% abv, this is no wallflower - immediately upon opening, this wine really leaps out the glass at you! Laden with blackcurrant and raspberry fruit on the nose, it also displays notes of fragrant roses and a hint of smoke. The palate is juicy and savoury with drying tannins and a creamy texture, all balanced by gummy black fruit and liquorice. Intensely concentrated, the flavour lingers long after the last sip. A big, bold, hearty red to see you through the winter months! (Caroline Shepherd, Senior Specialist, Dreweatts' Wine Department)
