The last vintage of the 50s was legendary for Bordeaux, which produced a bounty of rich, velvety, sumptuous wines. These wines were known for their tannin and alcohol, and the very best should still be drinking well now. The Italian harvest was also very good but often eclipsed by shouldering vintages
Siglo is one of the most emblematic brands of appellation Rioja. Nowadays, it is run by Bodegas Manzanos, a winery with more than 127 years of winemaking tradition. Siglo is a symbol of Rioja and is one of the few brands that still preserve the traditional burgundy bottle. The wines are recognized worldwide for the sacks that wrap their bottles. This is in recognition of the damp clothes field workers would wrap around their wine bottles to keep them cool throughout the day.
