Description

You are bidding on 2 delightful bottles of 1997 Querciabella Camartina Toscana Rosso. Probably one of the very best producers of Tuscan reds, and has developed a committed following over the years. We have been fortunate enough to try a number of Querciabella’s wines, and they never fail to delight. There are two lots of 2 bottles each, up for auction.

For a review of the 1997:

Steven Tanser:

Ruby with purple highlights. Warm but nicely focused aromas of jammy cassis fused with vanilla and caramel from the oak. Sweet blackcurrant and plum are boosted by warming alcohol, which intensifies and lengthens the flavors. Concentrated, layered, complex and elegant. Quite long on the aftertaste. One of the top producers in Chianti Classico: nothing but quality comes out of these cellars. Camartina, along with Tignanello, is Tuscany's leading sangiovese/cabernet blend, and Querciabella's Batar, a barrel-fermented blend of pinot blanc and chardonnay, is one of central Italy's finest white wines. (Robert Chadderdon Selections, New York, NY) 93 points


The wine is in great condition, the level is superb, well into the neck. The labels are bit grubby in places, and there are some small rips on the front and back labels from the storage shelving. There are no signs of seepage.

New vintages of this are available at around the £45-50 a bottle mark, but there is little available with any age. I did find one 1997 magnum available on-line at £130 + VAT.

I’m happy to ship this wine to you, or you can collect it either from Wiltshire or central London where I work and save yourself the shipping cost.
