Description

93 pts – Huon Hooke
91 pts – Wine Enthusiast
16.5/20 – Jancis Robinson

“This wine [Barbaresco], when good, is really good. It wraps you in a blanket, sits you down in a comfortable environment and cuddles you as long as it lasts.”
(David Anderson, “Barbaresco – Cinderella of Wines”, ViewItalyBlogspot, January 19, 2006)

Typical Barbaresco from a quality producer – the Adriano brothers - recommended by Kerin O’Keefe, who is probably the harshest critic of Italian wines.

Barbaresco Basarin is one of the three top crus in the commune of Neive. The 100% Nebbiolo vines grow south-eastern facing at 300m above sea-level on volcanic marl that adds acidity to the wine.

This is a very elegant, dry and silky wine with balanced tannins and a hint of chocolate. The bouquet evokes spices, vanilla, violet and wild roses.
