Description

Here is James Halliday's review from Feb 2012:
"Medium purple-red; a medium-bodied wine with plenty of activity on both the bouquet and palate; blackberry, plum, spice and fruitcake are augmented by a touch of smoky oak and attractive, savoury tannins."

Here are a couple of much more recent notes from Cellartracker:
1/16/2015 - STAYHAPPY21 WROTE: 92 Points
Tasted this at the 2006 Australian Shiraz Barossa Valley vs McLaren Vale tasting at Extra Space Boon Keng last night. This wine was pitted against the 2006 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm.

Wine was more contained and confounded but not less impressive. More rounded and smooth as compared to The Dead Arm.

Wine was made from grapes grown on cooler hill sites and this probably explained its more restrained style.

5/1/2014 - YIUWING_HK LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Very silky and smooth tannins, full body blackberries, blueberries dark choco flavours with a lengthy pepperly finish. Perfect match with grilled lamp chop (seasoned with rosemary and parprika).

I've tried this wine recently and it's a really satisfying mouthful, with more savoury counterpoints to the big fruit than you get in many blockbuster Aussie reds. Great now but will also last (and maybe improve?) for many years I think.
