Description

This Brunello di Montalcino is produced exclusively from grapes of Poggio Anticos own vineyards in Montalcino, Tuscany. The soil there is calcareous, rich in clay and particularly suited to growing full-bodied wines which are known around the world for their quality. Four years of aging in Slavonian oak barrels give complexity and depth to this wine, making it a natural companion to fine foods. Because of its extraordinary balance, it will continue to age gracefully.

The 1997 Altero was very intense with ripe fruits, almost dried and pruney. It was full and round and soft with dried berry and spice. Balsamic and intense aftertaste. Ages well. 94/100 points James Suckling.
