A top-class Brunello, in its prime, from the superb 2004 vintage.

96/100 – Wonderful aroma. Deep ruby color. Aged perfectly.
96/100 – Deep brick red on opening. After 2 hour decant, dark, opaque , and viscous. Earthy, herbaceous, subdued dark fruits, almost like unsweetened preserves. Paired beautifully with Australian Wagyu ribeye steaks and panzanella salad, but amazing with gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce. Evolved over a couple of hours. Simply a joy to savour this wine!
96/100 – Best of the 5 I bought at auction and if I had more would not hesitate to hold for 5+ more yrs. Dark and supple, with the structure for further aging. Very little fine sediment - virtually no bricking or anything to suggest it has peaked. Just a great, great bottle. I suggest a decant, but only to pour off the very last bit of bottle which could be a bit cloudy.
95/100 – Dark plum and quite dense. The tannins are still harsh and I am starting to worry that the balance will degrade over time. However, at the moment the wine is balanced very nicely with a lovely and piercing acidity. It is clearly showing plenty of aged complexity but there is still plenty of fruit and depth that should allow for further aging. Lovely wine.
