Description

1 bottle, excellent condition.

Perhaps the most elegant of di Ama's 3 single vineyard (now classified as Gran Selezione) chianti classico bottlings, this Bellavista felt like it still has a long life ahead of it when I tried it last year. So I'd suggest you give it a nice slow decant if you can.

Brought in from bond about 4 years ago and stored in my climate-controlled (12°C, 60% humidity) cellar since. Fill level is well into the neck just below the capsule and bottle condition is pristine aside from just a tiny bit of the adhesive coming undone at the edge of the label. I have drank 2 bottles of this and have 4 left, 3 of which I'll try to hang onto for a few more years, but I have to make some space in the cellar!

Royal Mail Tracked 24; free collection from SW6 or SW1 (I may be able to drop it off for you in W/SW London if mutually convenient). I will combine delivery with any of my other lots to save on shipping costs.

"The 2006 Chianti Classico Vigneto Bellavista Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera is incredibly tight and backward. This masculine, authoritative wine shows little aromatic complexity today, instead it's all about purity of fruit and structure, both of which the Bellavista has in spades. The style is more intense and powerful than the Casuccia; and even a touch more refined, as hard as that may seem to believe. The firm tannins need time to soften, but this is a dramatic, sweeping wine of the highest level that only needs patience. Sweet balsamic tones make an appearance on the finish, hinting at the direction the wine is heading. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031." -Antonio Galloni
