Description

The Montsant wine region forms a ring around the better known region of Priorat, and is a good hunting ground for high quality reds without the high prices now being asked for good Priorat reds.

The wine is made from a Merlot-dominant blend that also includes Grenache and a little Tempranillo.

The 2001 vintage of this wine was given 93 points from Mr Parker in 2005, and the 2004 vintage received 90 points from the Wine Advocate.
They didn't taste the 2003 vintage, which probably explains why I've been able to get hold of some.

I've drunk a bottle in the last few weeks and was very impressed - it's smooth, rich and well-rounded with lots of fruit and a nice savoury/spicy quality, drinking at its absolute peak I'd say.

Well worth trying!
