Description

5eme Cru Classe. The estate was reinvigorated in 1980 with extensive replanting of the vineyard. By the mid-1980's cult oenologist Michel Roland was consulting and the subsequent rise in quality was meteoric. Roland's then innovative techniques are now widely copied. The vineyard is planted with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon; 35% Merlot; 20% Cabernet Franc; and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine spends 15-18 months in oak barrels, half of which are new. The 2001 will drink nicely over the next few years.

'This long forgotten classified growth (owned by the Dourthe firm) has fashioned an elegant, medium-bodied 2001 exhibiting sweet and black currant fruit along with toasty new oak and mineral notes.' Robert Parker Drink now-2015.

At a time when Bordeaux is becoming more and more expensive, not to mention long-lived with recent super vintages, why not consider a wine that has the necessary bottle age to enjoy now, wont break the bank, and is bloody good!
