Description

I am offering 1 case of 12 bottles from this ever popular, Parker highly regarded Chateau, from the great 1982 vintage. Indeed, he states that the '82 is the best ever wine made at this Estate!

Ths offers a rare opportunity to buy a case of 1982 claret (legendary vintage in the Medoc), that is still drinking very well, and won't break the bank!

"Looking back over what I have enjoyed over the past year,1982 clarets were the most consistently mature wines. The irony is that only a few years ago,I was advising you to drink them up,but they seem to have taken on a new life, with more volume and power than had seemed apparent".........David Peppercorn (From Decanter Magazine.Dated January 2011).

"When I issued my report on the 1982 vintage in the April 1983 Wine Advocate,I remember feeling that I had never tasted richer, more concentrated, more promising wines than the 1982s.Two decades later, despite some wonderfully successful years such as 1985,1986,1989,1990,1995,1996,and 2000,1982 remains the modern day point of reference for the greatness Bordeaux can achieve............Robert Parker 2002.

Of this particular wine, the critics say........

La Tour St.Bonnet makes a rather full-bodied,fleshy,deeply colored wine. Both the 1982 and 1983 are rather serious wines, with a lot of character and intensity.

Robert Parker.(The Wine Buyer's Guide. 1988).

I don't drink Cabernet or Bordeaux blends as much as I once did. When I do,this is the kind of wine that holds my attention.I have bought Tour St Bonnet in good ageworthy vintages such as 1982,1990 and 1995 and never been disappointed. No other cabernet blend I know gives as much serious pleasure for the price. And it ages well. Like most Chateauneuf-du-Pape estates and some of the more traditional Bordeaux ones, Tour St. Bonnet ages its wines in large oak foudres that are seasoned enough that they impart no oak traits. The alcohol level is 12%.

Artisan Wine on a Budget (8/7/2010)

The Latour St Bonnet 1982 was a great success...not particularly complex, but still full of ripe fruit, with depth and a long length.A very satisfying claret and perfect for drinking now.
It knocked spots off a rather weak 1981 Domaine de Chevalier and a 1995 Grand Puy Lacoste, which had potentially more complexity, but just was not drinking "a point" like the Latour St Bonnet. Even the Beaucastel 1995 was put in the shade,
