Description

I am offering 2 great bottles from this wonderful 2nd Growth Estate, the '78 and '82.

Both bottles look in great condition, with capsules exactly as they should be, and ullage great for their respective vintages. The labels have incurred some cellar staining as can be seen in the picture.

The '82 scored 87 RP points and the '78 a very commendable 76 RP points.

Please read the Cellar Tracker notes below from 2014 tastings for each wine......they are very good indeed, and may surprise you!

As with all our Auctions, there is No Reserve and no Consignment Fees.

1978 Lascombes Cellar Tracker 2014 Tasting Notes
5/29/2014 - VIVT LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
high shoulder but cork went into bottley However, light rim red fruit on nose and palate, cedar became more complex as I drank. long finish. still tannin. had with pork chops. earth notes at the end but delicious and still alive at 35 years old. Complex .

5/26/2014 - VIVT LIKES THIS WINE: 90 Points
Clear rim. Red fruit aroma and flavor, cedar in nose and taste went well with a broiled lamb chop and asparagas became more complex as I ate and drank long finish. balanced developed more earthiness. Amazing. Delicious.

1982 Lascombes Cellar Tracker 2014 Tasting Notes
3/22/2014 - PEARLS_B4SWINE WROTE: 90 Points
This was a decent bordeaux; still had some vibrancy, fruit, and structure, but not mindblowing. Good value for an '82.

1/3/2014 - PAVEL_P WROTE: 89 Points
Bottom neck fill. Pnp - cork entirely soaked but comes out more or less in one piece. Garnet bricking towards the rim. While the color is not too different from the 82 Pape Clement earlier this week, unlike the Pape this 82 Lascombes is also alive and kicking on the palate. Plenty of sous-bois, some barnyard, red and dark fruit. The attack is very soft and round but also feels a bit diluted and lacking concentration. The more surprising is the slight heat (am struggling to believe there could be heat in a 82 as well...) and roughness that come with some fine tannins and fairly high acidity on the mid-palate. Once those notes fade you are however left with a very nice finish of medium plus length. Certainly the highlight of this nice wine. I would think this is on a very gentle decline but no real urgency to finish as I am sure this will still drink pretty well at age 40. 89-90
