Description

The first of the Chapoutier single vineyard Hermitages.

This 100% Syrah wine comes from old vines, some of which are approaching 100 years of age.

The wines are aged in 40-50% new, French oak barrels. The wines are never fined or filtered.

Yields can be as low as 15 hectoliters per hectare.

Note the Braille labelling which was introduced in 1995.

Scored at mid to very high 90s from the all the usual suspects & drinking at that level given recent CT reviews & my own first hand experience from last week.
