2 bottles of Pauillac from this ever reliable estate. Batailley always takes time to show its best, and this wine is now beginning to approach maturity at 15 years.

Hotspur, 93 points
"This wine has become a classic among us. For some reason, this vintage is exceptional with this Chateau. It's becoming lighter, more elegant, with a slight strawberry touch to it, but never letting its origin out of sight. A strong, delicious Paulliac that doesn't need more aging but will be good for another decade. Drink."

"Given 2hrs decant, needs at least this and more. Nose is well integrated, opulent fruit & creamy splintered oak, typical notes of pencil and cigar, this has a thick rich nose but carries a nice freshness also, the wines in a good place at the moment. Palete, soft long and plush, great wine."

"Slow-oxed for 10h. Cassis on the nose, a lot of fruit in fact, and then pencil shavings and crushed stone. Wow, this is surprisingly well structured in the mouth. Terrific balance of black berries and minerality, tannins are smooth and nearly fully resolved. The finish is medium, had it been longer and had it been slightly more intense it may have reached a 95. This drinks very well now and is excellent value."
