Description

You are bidding on a single bottle of Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Papes from the superb 1998 vintage. The wine has been stored in my Eurocave since purchase on release and is in great condition with no signs of seepage. The fill level is well into the neck. You can see from the photos that there is a water stain on the lower section of the label.

Deep, bright ruby. Compelling aromas of black cherry syrup, tar, tree bark, mint and a hint of exotic fruits; distinctly liqueur-like without being heavy. Thicker and more solid than the Coudoulet but less expressive in the mouth. Best today on the very long finish, which features palate-suffusing tannins and a flavor of bitter chocolate. A very subtle wine that will require several years of bottle aging. 91-94 points

The wine can be collected from central London during the working week, or from North Wiltshire. It can also be shipped to you in a polysafe container.
