Description

A bottle of Calon Segur 1979 acquired as part of a case from a provincial French cellar of a major wine collector; stored in excellent damp conditions. Label slighlty dirty; capsule in very good condition; good colour through the glass; level mid-shoulder, no signs of seepage.

My tasting note (23/6/2012): Level low mid-shoulder, corroded capsule, signs of seepage; colour brick red at rim, opaque dark red in centre; cedary nose with hints of forest fruits; sweet in the mouth with a cedary overtone to plums and forest fruits; good weight and length; some astringency, but excellent with food. Decant at least 2 hours before drinking.
