Description

This wine hasn't been tasted by Parker or Wine Spectator for over a decade, but there is a long list of recent tasting notes on Cellartracker singing the praises of this wonderful St Emilion wine. The ten most recent notes (from mid 2013 to early 2015) score the wine at an average of 94/100.

For example:
3/7/2015 - FELIXP WROTE: 95 Points
cannot understand why this Chateau is so under-rated. I wonder if they doubled their price, would the critics sit up and take notice?? I hope not and I hope not!!!!!
Beautiful tawny red, long, sweet palate of earth, secondary vinous notes, anise, mint chocolate and a hint of caramel. In a perfect place right now, the epitome of a immensely satisfying claret.
Drink: now-2020 95pts

1/16/2015 - LIBER LIKES THIS WINE: 95 Points
8th of 12 and almost unchanged from my note of March 14......a beauty, though just beginning to show signs of age. Still no rush to drink. After Cheval and Ausone, Canon was vintage after vintage (cf 64, 70, 82 and 85) the next best St Emilion with Figeac pipping it in certain vintages, so I just don't get the elevation of Angelus and Pavie ahead of it! Very fine (18.5/20).

12/24/2013 - SIMONG WROTE: 94 Points
Christmas & New Year 2013; 12/20/2013-1/1/2014: Dense ruby. Bright. Lovely nose, quite subdued at first, plummy fruit with darker fruit bass notes, opening up to show a damp soil and Christmassy nose. Dense and classic attack, nothing showy here, very proper claret, dense and with a richness developing with air. A superb match with a very rich beef Wellington. Long, dense and complex. Proper wine - not a flash 'look at me' number. ****1/2
