Description

Cantemerle outperformed its 5th growth status in 1983, producing a wine which Parker scored 91 points way back in 1998. He also said it needed drinking by 2005, but he certainly got that wrong.

11/15/2015 - PEZSCOTT LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Took a while to open, but eventually a delicious and subtle wine. Not the smoothest, but a mature, pencil, barnyard, and leather nose with more fruit on the palate. A nice, medium+ finish to round it out with some still substantial weight. Could go many more years I suspect. Definitely improved with food.

medium red. Great Claret nose. Cassis, and house dust. Resolved but still showing very well.

Dark fruits, tobacco, and a savoury earthiness. Fully mature and drinking well with supple, medium weight flavours. Margaux wines turned out very well in '83, and this property is very close to Margaux.

A beautiful mature Bordeaux. This wine has always done it for me. Still holding its ruby color. Deep nose of dark berries, wet earth and smoke. The fruit is holding up well yet the palate is solidly tertiary. There is a seriousness here that points to a wine with higher pedigree. Probably good to drink this over the next few years.
