Description

One bottle, in immaculate condition, from this excellent Pomerol property situated between Petrus and Vieux-Chateau-Certan.

A couple of recent notes from Cellartracker suggest this is beginning to approach maturity:

"1996 Château Certan de May (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol) 2/16/2010 carnyc
France Blind at Capsouto Freres: Nose: Bigger fruit than the Cantemerle, green peppercorn, cedar
Palate: Plums, cedar, good balance, nice acidity and tannin; mature but plenty of life left. Screamed right bank, screamed Pomerol. My guess: 1998 Pomerol. :D
This wine got better as the night progressed, showing excellent balance and complexity. Another wine I'd be more than happy to have in the cellar, and one you can enjoy now with a proper decant, or 5+ years down the road. WOTN candidate."

Opened but not decanted 2 hrs before recorking and taking it to dinner. Still slightly tight at the beginning and showed really quite well towards the end of the night. A nice structured wine with good balance. Decent acidity and fruit (especially as it evolved). No rush in opening the next one, easily can keep for another 5 + yrs. Now 91+ pts"
