The 2005 Beaucastel is loved by amateurs and pros alike, a couple of review below.

From the ever reliable and restrained Jancis Robinson:
"Bright crimson. Firm and luscious and very, very gorgeous in terms of plush ripe fruit. Almost port sort of richess. You almost have to work at finding the tannins underneath. A pre-blend from demi-muid. Lovely stuff already!"

6/13/2024 - BERNIEMSY LIKES THIS WINE: 97 Points

"Popped and poured. Dark, brooding garnet color; deep rich nose of plum and black cherry.

This wine is fantastically balanced. Delicious dark fruit tones dominate upfront, with interesting savory notes of roast meat, currant, and a touch of candied Concord grape on the backend. Good levels of acidity underpin the entire flavor profile, and there is enough structure to suggest that the wine can run for another 5 to 8 years. That said, it is drinking remarkably well right now.

This is an outstanding effort that illustrates the wonderful heights that Beaucastel can reach in a good year. Om [sic] not sure how it will play out for it, but on this day, under these condition, the 2005 Beaucastel knocks it out of the park!"
