Description

1981 Château de Pez, Saint-Estèphe. Château de Pez is one of the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux, with origins dating to the 15th century. Situated in Saint-Estèphe on the Left Bank of the Médoc, the château built its reputation on traditionally structured Cabernet-led wines designed for long ageing. Prior to later modernisation under the ownership of Louis Roederer in the 1990s, Château de Pez represented a more classical style of Bordeaux production.

Recently released from a deceased private cellar. This bottle remains well preserved for its age, with level at the base of the neck, intact foil, firm cork and strong remaining colour. A mature example from the pre-modern era of Bordeaux winemaking and an increasingly uncommon survivor from the 1981 vintage.
