Description

A quintessentially elegant effort, the 2001 offers notes of liquified minerals intermixed with raspberries and a hint of vanilla. This medium-bodied, moderately tannic, stylish wine recalls the excellent 1999 as well as the under-rated 1981. It is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2015.

Tasted by paulst on 11/27/2010 & rated 95 points: Outstanding for this vintage; smooth soft sweet round rich velvety blackberry fruit with tremendous length, complexity. Perfect balance of acidity and soft-sweet tannins; long long finish.
Tasted by Stampy on 4/28/2011 & rated 92 points: Intense lilac nose, dry and on the thin side at first. Opened out beautifully on second and third days. Fine grained tannins.
