Description

Bordeaux 1982.

When I issued my report on the 1982 vintage in the April 1983 Wine Advocate,I remember feeling that I had never tasted richer,more concentrated,more promising winnes than the 1982's.Two decades later,despite some wonderfully successful years,such as 1985,1986,1989,1990,1995,1996 and 2000,1982 remains the modern-day point of reference for the greatness Bordeaux can achieve.

Chateau Giscours 1982

This baby was singing from the moment it was popped and poured.Sweet cherries,toffee and wet rose petals jumped out of the glass,with the fruit and meat juice dominating the palate.Very nice and an even finish. 94 points (Cellar tracker 5/11/2008)

Chateau Reverdi Cru Bourgeois Listrac (Gold Medal,Concours generale agricole,Paris.1984).

Violets and lovely ripe black fruits on the nose.Mint,blackcurrants,truffles,prunes,minerality.Wonderful balance of still vibrant fruit and well merged tannins. 92 points
