Description

From Parker:

Wine Advocate # 140
Apr 2002 Robert Parker 89 Drink: 2005 - 2015
An exotic perfume of tapenade, new saddle leather, damp earth, black currants, cherries, and smoke jumps from the glass of this impressive, powerful 1999. The wine is medium-bodied with moderate tannin. This dark plum/ruby-colored St.-Julien requires another 2-3 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015.

Wine Advocate # 134
Apr 2001 Robert Parker (89-91) Drink: 2003 - 2020
An opaque purple color is accompanied by copious quantities of jammy cassis, blackberries, and spicy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, with soft tannin, low acidity, and a nicely-layered texture, it will be at its best between 2003-2020.

Wine Advocate # 128
Apr 2000 Robert Parker (89-91) Drink: 2005 - 2020
A successful offering, the opaque purple-colored 1999 Gruaud-Larose reveals the estate's tell-tale aromatics of saddle leather, aged beef, blackberries, cassis, licorice, and tobacco. Nicely integrated oak buttresses a medium to full-bodied, extracted wine. This effort saturates the palate with glycerin and fruit concentration. Pure, long, and impressive, it will drink well between 2005-2020.
