Description

This was acquired en primeur through the Wine Society, Stevenage and stored in their temperature-controlled cellars on arrival in the country about 2002. This case has therefore been handled solely by the specialist Wine Society UK and has not even been seen by the owner who lives in New Zealand and has stayed at a constant temperature without vibration since 2002. Sadly after ten years of storage rentals, this should go to someone in UK who enjoys a good drop!

The Members' Reserves of the Society "are a purpose-built, temperature-controlled wine storage facility used by thousands of Society members to store their wines, duty paid, in perfect conditions." This beautiful wine is going to be therefore immaculate and very close to chateau-released bottles.

90 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of blackberry, mineral and mint on the nose. Full-bodied, with plenty of fruit and racy, polished tannins on the finish. This can go on for many years. But why wait?" (2010) According to Robert Parker: "An exotic perfume of tapenade, new saddle leather, damp earth, black currants, cherries, and smoke jumps from the glass of this impressive, powerful 1999. The wine is medium-bodied with moderate tannin." (04/02)
