Description

Wine is in excellent condition, both label and capsule. The bottle has a 'US Slip Label' on the reverse side indicating that at some stage it was either exported to the USA or intended to be exported.

Wine Spectator rated this wine 98 points in 1998: "The wine of the vintage and one of the greatest Haut-Brions ever made. Superpowerful and ripe, with masses of spice, mint and berry character. Full-bodied, with full yet polished tannins, this wine is a joy to taste and will be for decades.--1988 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2003. (JS)"

Recent comments by CellarTracker contributor on 26/09/2014: “Near the end of an evening of older Bordeaux, this wine seemed almost jammy and primary, with fresh red fruit and tannins clamping through the finish. Yet the balance here is superb, with fresh acidity and no heat. Excellent wine, drinkable now or will reward further cellaring.”
