Description

/6/2014 - WINECELLARTV LIKES THIS WINE:96 Points
Velvety crimson with orange/ brown edges.
Light and obviously aged, but still vibrant and alive!
Integrated and ripe aromatics of Leather and Earth with little Road Tar and Petrol.
Opened up beautifully in the decanter with an intriguing play of forest characters of Pinewood, Resin, Moss and forest Floor. Violets, Mint and other Fresh Herbs.
Fresh Lightness, Discretion and great Depth!
The palate is also dominated by secondary/ tertiary characters with distinct Earthiness, Leather and Gravelly Flavors. Spices, Graphite and Mushrooms with muted fruit; just little Fruit in Rum.
Medium-bodied with fine, vital acidity and finely integrated, approachable tannins. Mind-blowing length and complexity on the finish! Depth, notes of Iron (!), intriguing Darkness and little, Peppery Anise Spiciness. Stays forever!
Depth and complexity in a restraint and elegant package.
Fantastic, classical Graves in an elegant, complex and exciting wine with restraint. Drink now (-2019).

1/19/2014 - PJAINES LIKES THIS WINE:
The elegance of old wines! This is still drinking very well - the bottle had perfect fill, cork came out in one peice - crystal clear wine. At first a bit funky but then this starts to unfold like a flower - tea leaf, roses, red fruit - very much on the Barolo spectrum. The classic Graves terroir still shines through - violets and slate fade in and out. A touch acidic on the finish now. Time to drink up. Very good - probably the best 1970 Bordeaux I've had.

10/26/2013 - KR66 LIKES THIS WINE:93 Points
First typical LMHB horse & tar nose, then in the palate fresh and herbaceous, slightly medicinal, but fine fresh acid, long. Very good. Drink before 2018.

7/25/2012 - PROF B WROTE:97 Points
Kahns "Look What We Found" Tasting Event (Seasons 52, Indianapolis): A big, full bodied wine. This wine was singing right from the pour. Raw venison, fresh mushrooms, and cassis were clearly evident. Completely mouth-coating, velvety smooth, with an epic finish. A fabulous wine at peak with time to spare.
