Description

91-93 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2019 La Serre, the Saint-Emilion property owned by the d’arfeuille family and run by J-P Moueix, has been a little gem in their line-up in recent years. The Merlot was picked 23 to 25 September, the Cabernet Franc on 5 October before elevage in 50% new oak. This has a nice defined, vivacious and expressive nose with black cherries, iodine and hints of cassis. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannins, wonderful tension, not a deep or immensely structured Saint-Emilion, yet graceful and very harmonious on the finish. Superb.“

1. Chateau La Serre 2019

This 2017 vintage of château Haut Marbuzet is a superb success. Henri Dubosq, current owner of the wine estate produces a wine with a personalised, voluptuous style, based on a winemaking process favouring unctuous tannins thanks to the high proportion of Merlot, maturing 100% in new oak barrels.

To achieve this, the grape varieties are 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot. These wines are powerful and spicy, seducing with their supple fruit and flamboyant style with characteristic exotic aromas.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
One of the stars of the vintage, this 2002 reveals a saturated to the rim purple color as well as a big, sweet, provocative nose of earth, licorice, creme de cassis, and toasty new oak. It possesses medium to full body, great purity, tangy underlying acidity, and an impressively long, 40-second finish. This top-flight St.-Julien should hit its prime in 5-8 years, and last for over two decades. Bravo! Rating 92-94.
