Description

Tour de By 2000, Cru Bourgeois Medoc
A high quality Medoc Bordeaux from this well-known producer, next to the River Gironde in the north of the Medoc peninsula. Classed as a Medoc Cru Bourgeois since 1932, it is rated as one of the best Cru Medocs, largely on account of the deep, gravelly terroir from river deposits over many centuries. The Château takes a long time, including 16 months in oak barrels, before the wine is released and it is intended for drinking within 10-20 years from vintage.

The nose is of rich fruit, cassis and hints of roast coffee. There is opulent ripe fruit on the palate with a hint of prunes; good complexity from soft, matured tannins and with a long finish.

Drinking well now, projected to be at its peak in 2016, it will keep until 2020-2022. Best opened one hour before drinking and decanted.
