Description

I have for sale one bottle of Chateau Langoa Barton 2004 in very good condition.

You know, the common consensus is that Leoville Barton is by rote, superior to Langoa, but the more my experience grows the less I think that is valid. This Langoa Barton 2004 is just divine with a lifted blackberry, tobacco and menthol-tinged nose with cedar becoming more pronounced with aeration. Wonderful definition. The palate is full-bodied with surprisingly grippy tannins, certainly retaining its masculinity that it showed at primeur, but as I intimated back then, the elevage added some flesh and weight to this wine to leave it with a dense, supple, slightly meaty finish. Lovely! Drink 2012-2020. Tasted November 2008.
Score: 93 Neal Martin

December 18, 2016 - Pop & pour. Gorgeous aromas on opening; I wouldn't decant this. Pure cassis aromas with some tobacco, violets, dried leaves & tar. Textbook St-Julien terroir. Resolved tannins; sweet currant fruit. Perfectly balanced body, alcohol and acidity. A stunning wine and real viticultural and winemaking talent in a year like 2004. Will keep for a decade or more but so enjoyable now there's nothing to gain IMHO.

November 24, 2016 - PnP. Almost purplish. Still youthfull. Much more evolved than last bottle. Vanilla cream with a heavy dose of spice on the nose. Very enticing. A little simple on the palate, elegant rather than extracted. Very good!

LA GRAPPE WROTE:

August 31, 2016 - A deep colour; initially, this had quite full blackcurrant fruit with a little tannin, but after a while the tannin became dominant and the wine closed up. Needs more time to be fully ready. Will be very good.

SLIMES LIKES THIS WINE:
June 23, 2016 - Benefited from a 1 hour decant before drinking. No notes ta time but went well with the beef on referendum night.

May 8, 2016 - Double decanted and started opening up. About two hours later, it started turning with a bit too much barnyard/manure. Will try single decant or no decant on the next bottle.

April 27, 2016 - Russk. WIC Bx tasting at Peter's. My wine and my WOTN. Decent nose. Mouth was Seemless. Supple. Compelling. Great earthy aromatics in the finish. Wish I had more. In a good place right now. 92

April 10, 2016 - From enomatic. Great nose; seems quite ready provided you have the patience to let it breath in the glass or decant. Classic.
